Because they are like any other profession that requires a lot of work but are unfairly perceived as having low value by society because they don't pull down big salaries - teachers, child care workers, home health care providers, janitors, sanitation workers, etc. fall into that category as well.

I always make it a point to make friends with the admins, the janitors/facilities folks, and the IT group when I join a new work group. Those are the people that can make or break you in a hurry!

Good question! I am a secretary and I do more for my superiors than they realize. And half of them don't even know how to do a lot of things because they rely on me so much.

Can I come and work for you?!

Because they are willing to work at such a low wage. Don't take a job or be employed unless your getting paid what you want.
