Captain Corellis Mandolin. The first chapter was outstanding, the rest was mediocre. Almost as if it had been written by two different people.
The most overrated book I havent read (I've read a LOT of books and love fantasy) I Lord of the Rings. I've tried many times but just get bored with it after the first couple of chapters.......

Other than the obvious choices (e.g Harry Potter and Da Vinci), I would say Catcher in the Rye.
