It just says "full bladder" on my little request form. Exactly how full? Do I have to drink a gallon? Less? More?

I would just have a normal amount of fluid before I go, in these places you usually have to wait and they always have those water coolers so you can have more when you get there, otherwise you might empty your bladder before you get seen. Good Luck.

if you drink the recomended 32 oz you will be so so sorry they told me they couldnt see anything so I should go empty some of my bladder (ha that is so much harder than it sounds) and I was just sore all day. next time, I drank 2 little bottles, that was all they needed. It just pushes some stuff up so they can measure your cervix, then you can go pee and they will do the rest of the ultrasound, but really don't drink water unless they specifically ask you to, because not every ultrasound requires it. Good luck!

I had my 20 week ultrasound last week and I was told to drink 16oz. of water. Everything went perfectly fine too.
The whole 32 oz. thing scares the hell out of me. I was already worried I would have to pee through the whole thing, but I was fine. You should call the place where you are having the ultrasound to be sure. I think it probably depends on the quality of the machine. Some may require more or less.

Well I suggest that you drink about 50 to 60 oz of water 30 minutes before your u/s. Empty your bladder before you start to drink it and make sure it is not ice water. Cool water is fine and no hot water as well. They tell you to drink 25 oz at least, but I have seen many girls having to reschedule their appt b/c their bladder was not full enough. I myself had to drink 3 bottles of water , but I also had a tilted uterus and the more water was suppose to help me. Good luck.

It must be new. I didn't get that request when I went for my ultrasound 3 yrs ago. I did hear that drinking apple juice before you go makes the baby active and a better chance of telling what sex. Good Luck !!

I was told to drink 40 oz of water 45 minutes before I went in. Let me warn you it's VERY hard to hold it in but the good thing is that you don't have to hold thruought the entire U/S only the begining then they let you go pee. I was even in a bad mood on our drive over there! LOL My poor hubby didn't know what to do! LOL Good luck!

34 weeks, 1 day with my first!

I believe I had to drink about 36 ounces of water about 30-45 minutes right before my appointment.
If it feels like your bladder is going to burst, then you have drank enough. Good luck!

At the facility that I go to, for less than 14 weeks it's 32oz, and if you are 15 weeks or more it's 20oz. I only had to drink 20oz for my last ultrasound, and I was 22 Weeks.
