Why do black/dirty snow drifts melt slower than white ones?

Dirty snow drifts are usually dirty because they have been plowed. Plowing snow together compacts the snow and thus, makes it melt slower. Also, big chunks of dirt or pieces of metal can hold in cold and keep the snow from melting.

the dirt makes them melt faster. that's why they put dirt on a snowy road
