There is something called Party on the Plaza. The twice-weekly Hispanic concert series kicked off Tuesday night and continues Wednesday night. The concerts are held at Jones Plaza, located at 600 Louisiana at Texas. They are free from 5 until 8 p.m. A $5 entrance fee after 8 p.m. benefits the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The parties last until 10 p.m.
Party on the Plaza has been a Houston tradition for more than 10 years.
The series lasts for the next 16 weeks.

This Ohio threesome says no band even compares to them
BY DUSTI RHODES
The SundressesThe Sundresses are one of a kind — at least to them. “There is no other band to compare The Sundresses to, so don’t even try,” the group’s MySpace page says. Well, we’ll take a stab and say they sound a bit like local groups J.W. Americana and 500 Megatons of Boogie. The Cincinnati threesome also combines folk, blues and punk for a sound that, despite their arrogance, is pretty enjoyable. They say their lyrics are “a direct response to 9/11 and the wretchedness of the American government.” We’re guessing they’ll fit right in with the metal/punk regulars of Rudyard’s weekly Wednesday showcase, Turbojugend Humpday with DJ Jay Debauchery.
