Definitely. Like, I have this friend who is really boring when I'm not around to get her going. But one time, she told me she had this really weird dream where she was a cop and she was trying to catch a squirrel rapist. Freeeeeeeaky. (Who would rape a squirrel?)

While dreaming our brain makes random connections between things we often do not connect while awake. (At least that is my impression of the dreams I actually happen to remember, after I wake up.)
That ability of drawing new connections, is definitively an important part of creativity. What is missing during a dream is the mechanism of choosing the functional connections from the nonfunctional ones.
I'm not sure how to bring the connections made during a dream into waking life, because we tend (or at least I do) to forget our most dreams, when we wake. Those we remember are fair game. (Actually, I did have some dreams that gave me great ideas for my own artwork.)
What we could learn from dreams, is to allow ourselves to be bold to make connection where nobody made connections before, rather than dismissing possible connections right away, before thinking them through.

absolutely! I get a problem dijested into my little brain, and let it lie there over night, and very commonly dream the solution,,even complex structural math ones. I have been resorting to"sleeping on it" for many years.

When you dream about doing something, you usually dream you do it perfectly. If you keep dreaming about doing it perfectly, in reality you will.

While one can receive ideas and incites, it is generally rambling thought rather than creative thought.
