While I know the story, I'll tell you mine instead. Smorb means compassion, caring, friendship, honesty, sense of humor and an amazing ability to turn the absolute most simple thing sexual. He is not raunchy or distasteful and still manages to make me laugh a whole lot. A great friend.

Not the first time I've been asked this, my friend.....
Oddly enough, there are (among other things) a Web design firm called Smorb.com, some office product from GE called a "Smorb," and several users on other forums using the name "Smorb."
None of those has anything to do with me or my choice of user name.
(There was one I liked, though--Sexual Misconduct Oversight and Review Board--I see that the rodent above has found that one....)
In fact, I had no idea that any of those even existed until a friend told me about a question posted previously, which prompted me to look around.
The source of my user name is an inside joke, in the "you had to be there" category, and even if I were to tell the story, it would require revealing information that isn't for public consumption.
Besides, the story isn't really all that interesting.
That's about all I can tell you.
