There are some guys at my workplace that I really admire, in a professional sense, and I'm friends with some of them. I'd like to take pictures of them, but given that I'm a guy and they are also guys, I'm a little worried that it might seem weird, even though it's nothing like that at all.
Do you think this would be weird, or am I overthinking it? Would you mind if a colleague of the same gender asked to take your picture?

I want to take their picture to keep with me as a memento, for when I might leave the company and they are no longer around.

Thats weird, ask for a business card instead it has all their contact info on it and you can contact them to hang out or what not. Asking for a picture is just plain creepy.
If a co-worker of any gender asked me for a picture of myself I would be weirded out.
Why exactly to you want it anyway? reading your additional comments I would ask for their business card. And it will be good contacts for when you do leave the company.

if it meant nothing to you and you dident think it was weird at all then you wouldent be posting this question. why do you want to take his picture anyway? for what purpose? if you not out on the town with him and some buddys i think it is a bit odd you just want to "take his picture"......

Be up front with him. He will see it for what it is and either agree or not. If not, he is not the person you thought he is. Right?
