I agree with you. After all the most likely feedom wich we may have to give for a supposely increased security will be the freedom to scrutinize the government's actions and so we will be less likely to know if the governement's actions will indeed make us more secure

Are we talking about real lost of civil liberties as like during WWII where all mail was censor coming in and out of the country. Where all the Japanese’s were rounded up and put into camps.
Or perceived lost like the shrill voice we here about the Patriot Act. The FBI when caught is held accountable.

We have lost any civil liberties so far and haven’t seen plans to do it either. So far they are still catching the bad guys and not Muslim terrorists attacks on U.S. soil since 9/11.

If it means I have to go through a search on the plane so be it. If I didn’t like it I find another mode of transportation.

So right now I am now worried.

Unessential materialistic things, yes. Basic civil liberties, no. People go on and on about how the greatest thing about being an American is all these rights and freedoms so if we give up the one true righteous thing we have then is this not the epitome of losing to terrorists? I cannot understand all these people that say we are fighting a country that never threatened us over “freedom” yet have no qualms about surrendering first. These people are traitors.

When you sacrifice liberty for safety, you end up with neither of them.

As a matter of fact, the first victory our enemy achieved was our loss of liberty and the passage of the Patriot Act.

I have not given up any civil liberties. Nor has anybody else (unless they are members of Al Quaeda and I really do not care about their civil liberties).

We are already headed in the direction of having our civil liberties whittled away for what the Bush Administration believes to be "safety".

The Patriot Act is to blame...and all the b.s. associated with the War on Terror.

The CIA has enough technology to turn on your cell phone microphone remotely to hear your conversations without you even knowing.

So what does that tell you?

I won't give up my civil liberties for any reason. I'm with Ben Fraklin and Patrick Henry on that point.

I'd rather take my chances with the devil, thank you.
Benjamin Franklin said it best. "Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."
