I know that 8800gts 320mb is better then 7900gt but it's much more expensive too.I'am a mid-range gamer and the reason im considering to buy a 8800gts 320mb is that it supports Direct X 10 and it's gonna last me at least 3-5 years before i have to upgrade. However, i save cash by buying 7900gt but it doesn't support directx10 and i have to upgrade my video card sooner. What should I do?

It looks to be about a $70 dollar difference between the two. I would say that it is worth it to go for the 8800.

You will surely get $70 worth of more performance and life out of the 8800.

Well here is a 7900GT at a really good price.

I just finished another post on this same subject... Don't waste the extra money on the 8800 get a 7900 or 7950 a pair if you have the cash and wait for the price of the 8800 to come down when this thing comes out:

You really don't get all that much for the extra money. My advice wait a year then buy a DirectX 10 GPU.

I'd go with the cheaper personally,I have the Radeon X700 256 and play all the games .Why don't you see what games you might have or get and see if the less expensive one will support.Sometimes more expensive is overkill.I still play the same type of games my Radeon Stealth worked on I was satisfied with that one just thought a bigger would be better. My Stealth played all battlefields and nearly all steam games except for Half Life 2 worked just a lil jumpy but played deathmatch Half Life no problem.I personally have atleast 30 games and cheaper video card played excellent with them.

Choice is yours...If I were you and had the money I'd buy the 8800GTS because of the performance it will have... there won't be any game you can't run on it with the graphics cranked up full blast!
Make sure your case has the ATX form board and not a ATXmicro...because it's a very Large Card and takes up a lot of room on you mobo...won't fit if its the micro board.

I have the 8800 and it's amazing. I would definitely splurge to get it time and time again.
