Simple Answer: Beef up their OL
Proof: A good OL lets you run the ball well. This is especially important when you have the lead and want to run the clock. This was one of their problems last year as they had the lead but lost it late (just ask Roy Williams they should have been 16-0 lol). But seriously, a good running game opens up their pass and play action. They should also give McCown a chance to at least challenge Kitna as he is a tremendous athlete.

Here's a good reason to fire Millen: The Lions have had their absolute worst track record in their 40+ year history under Millen. Not that firing Millen would be the only thing -- the Ford family needs to get out of the football business and stick to building cars. They have enough trouble making that business profitable; they don't need the additional problem of trying to bring their football team out of the sewer.

Fire Millen,
1. His track record in the draft is awful, and don't say "well look at Roy Williams." When you have that many pics that high in drafts, you need to get superstars! And if you don't get superstars those pics better be major contributors.
2. Free agents do not want to come to Detroit, why?...Matt Millen. The lions have over 15 mil in cap space and have only signed a handful of crappy free agent castoffs (TJ Duckett, Travis Fisher, Dewayne White!?) to show for it. Why would Adalius Thomas or Eric Steinbach not take more money to play in Detroit?
3. Millen's crappy contracts...(I realize some of these guys are cut and gone now, but they were making way more than market value for players of their caliber and its after the fact that Millen signed them and found out they were garbage.
*Dominic Riola - no center in the history of football is worth more than 5 mil a year
*Shawn Rogers - 4.15 mil, I havn't seen a bigger underachiever since Gerrard Warren
*Kenoy Kennedy - he gets it done, but he is not worth 4 mil a year, thats Troy Palamalu and Ed Reed type money.
*Mike Williams - 2.5 mil for a bench player

The Lions have never been a good franchise. Even with Barry Sanders they struggled just to make the playoffs (why do you think he left).
Obviously, Matt Millen has to go.
While they are pitiful because of all the holes, they play in a weak division. If they solidified their line they would immediately begin to compete with their division. If they could add a couple of receivers that could catch then they could be a playoff team again.
The Lions are a bad franchise and it is always a downer to see draft pick go to them. It usually is a dead end for that unfortunate rookie.

c'mon man, the lions were never good. They were DECENT when Barry Sanders carried the team on his back, but they haven't been good. Everyone else in that division has won it besides the Lions.
To answer your question, it will take a lot more than good players to turn that team around. They need a full scale NFL makeover to turn the tide. What i'm leading up to is that they will probably be a sub .500 team for years to come. The moral there just has to be in the dumps.
Too bad they can't get a stud like Favre to jumpstart that team.

I think they have to fire Millen and Ford. They aren't willing to invest good money into good players and coaches. They pretty much have to start with a blank slate and start anew.
Well...we can look forward to the Pistons, Wings, and Tigers though.
Lions will not be good until they get a new owner.

If they fix up their oline, their QB, defense, the coach, the GM, the special team. This team needs alot holes to be fix. i think the 08 draft, they will once again be in the lottery pick again.

Fire Mcmillan since he is the person drafting the players. If you don't draft the right people the you will not be successful.
