Because eyes, ears, and yes, even the nose contain sense organs that can detect the direction of the source of stimulus (and distance, sometimes) by the brain's comparing of each orifice's nerves' reaction to that stimulus. Vision is binocular; you can tell the distance and obviously direction of the thing you're seeing. Hearing is "bi-aural" -- you can tell the direction of a source of noise because you have two ears. Studies have shown that humans can discern the direction of a source of scent, much like a hounddog, because of the difference in the concentration of odor particles between the left and right nostrils. All because you have two "windows."
With taste, however, there's not much to be gained by having two "input" sources. If you're tasting something, that means it's in your mouth--no need for further data! Also, the mouth serves as the entrance to the alimentary canal. You only need one entrance, and one exit, for that!

In a practical sense we know why, if we lose one we have still got the other, like our kidneys? Having one mouth.. jeez, good question.. um something to do with the path of evolution, another is not necessary..? I know what my husband would say.. so men could see and hear less coming from women's mouths in general.. j/k :)

Take the hint. Hear, see, smell everything going on around you, but say little.
