I would ask a Pred fan to show the same respect they would ask another fan (say Dallas fan) if a Pred player broke such a record while on the road. Of course after listening to Pred fans I wonder just how much they really know about hockey as they wear such rose colored glasses in regards to their team.

The Predators actually planned an announcement on the board when/if he broke the record, however, due to the situation (mentioned in other answers regarding his obvious hack across the back that went un-called) they did not think it prudent. Also, the Stars failed to follow NHL protocol, which is to communicate they would like something done in the event of a special occurrance. So truth be told - the same thing that all the Dallas media, fans, and president are ticked off about is really their own fault. Modano didn't even care about it, yet it's getting more coverage then the fradulent suspension of Tootoo for making a clean hit on Modano, followed by a punch thrown in self defense as Robidas launched himself at him. It's not Tootoo's fault that Robidas led with his face like an idiot. The real reason everyone is hating on the Predators is that they don't like it when a team they used to beat gets good. Well, get over it, and get over yourselves.

I think the stat of "most goals by an American player" is kind of weak anyhow. Unless you took the goal scoring lead, it's really not worth recognizing. Do we need to recognize a the Finish and Russian scoring leaders as well. Should we recognize Rick Smits as being the NBA's highest scoring Dutch player?

I wouldn't boo Modano...I mean he is the greatest USA players yet...He's got solid numbers and is a proven leader...too bad Roenick isn't as great...LeClair was good but no American hockey players adds up to Modano. Nashville just boo's anyone who isn't a predator.

Hello!!!!!!! Did you not see Mo's slash? Mo should have never had a chance to score that goal. It should have been 4 on 4 hockey at that point with Mo sitting in the box! Had he scored in the last 90 seconds after serving a penalty, then maybe it would have got a different reaction.
