I'm going to sue the NHS for negligence. Is it better to go it alone? If so, how do I go about it? If I do use one of those companies how do I find the best one? There are so many of them.

surely a solicitor will take my case on whether they think I can win or not, 'cause they want my money. I'm not giving any money to the no win no fee company so surely I can't be stung?

Just make sure that they're not taking the same settlement the company wants to offer directly to you. Some of these attorney groups take the same money your insurance company or the other involved party has offered and then scoop up half for "legal fees". Be actively involved in any negotiations or decisions involving how much to go after or accept.

If you have to sue the NHS for something, it sounds like you have a pretty big case for them to answer. Personally I wouldn't trust those companies as far as I could throw them. Have you gone down the official route for complaining? If not, then you have to do that first. Is your complaint against a Doctor? If it is, then the General Medical Council will have to be notified so they can investigate, and then you will know if you have a case or not. You are probably better off going to your own lawyer. It will cost you to do this, but if you are successful in your case, you will be awarded damages and your costs back.

My husband is going thru one at the moment in a claim against the company who owns and tends the car park where he works. the solicitor seems to think we have a case and they've been really helpful so far. also the solicitor is from a reputable local firm, not just one of theirs.

Hmm... be alittle more careful with your money. Don't put any of your money in those companies just yet without proper research.
