First and foremost this is a witch hunt to some extent. Stu Jackson hates Kobe, always has and always will. Until he is removed from his position I doubt the NBA will ever fairly punish players.

Kobe is one of if not the best offensive player in the game. He has a knack of getting to the foul line thus the refs watch his every move as he gets the preferential superstar treatment on most calls. This is a double edged sword as sometimes it backfires and blows his flailing out of proportion. The elbow to Mike Miller was a joke of a flagerant foul, even Miller agreed it was not as bad in the game as the film made it look.

I will agree with another post that Kobe is being made an example of, if we will slap Kobe for this you better believe we will slap every other player in the NBA in the same fashion. Then freaking do it! Watch how many times Shaq goes through his defender elbows first. Of Zach Randolph swinging his elbows high and nailing a defender in the face. Heck what about C-Webb elbowing his own teammate and knocking him out of the game? I mean if C-Webb can accidentally elbow his own teammate don't you think it can happen to your opponent?

Kind of a rant but I hope you get my point. Stu needs to go, and refs need to make all the calls or review every play, not just Kobe's.

i agree man i dont know how they could single him out, i watch alot of basketball and used to play when players think they get fouled they act, they throw there arms like they so they can get a foul. Everyone in the nba does it and its not fair to kobe that they are only punishing him.

you have to understand that nobody really likes kobe. he keeps to himself and he is cocky and selfish, but that doesn't stop him from being one of the greatest that ever played the game. im not saying kobe's not a good guy i'm just saying that kobe is so good they might make the game a lot more easier for the opponents if they can get him in foul trouble. i'm not saying the refs are fixing the game i'm just saying that any chance the refs see kobe touch someone the whistle blows.

I think that the downfall of being a superstar! You will easily got the attention of people around you. What distinguish Bowen is his defensive agressivity, that's him. What distinguish Kobe however his his multi-talent skills and superstardom. Thus you understand that it is easier to pick up something that is not suppose to characterise him that's all.Plus like one said, I think that the league is trying to set up example for the respect of the rules especially towards its superstars.I'm sure many have been complaining about his agressiveness [especially offensively] ask DWade, or Raja Bell!!!

Kobe is an extremely good athlete, and has been hated since his arrival in the NBA.

To answer your question, The same reason he wasn't MVP last year, because people with power, hate him.

He is a physical player, but not any more than other players... he is just competitive....

The NBA will allow excessive physical play if it is within the context of the game, i.e. aggressive defense. However, ramming your elbow into opposing player's faces when they contest your jump shot is immature and dangerous. Same situation as someone pulling down a rebound and flinging their elbows around at shoulder level. It's dangerous and stupid and will get you fined.

each and each time people ask this question, they're getting 2 issues at a loss for words: no longer hassle-free protection and grimy play. i like no longer hassle-free protection, i'm no longer able to stand grimy gamers. and that i evaluate intense flopping grimy. occasion: a no longer hassle-free defender like matt harpring won't flop, won't supply an inch, it incredibly is why he's greater probable to get called for a protecting foul; if he became right into a flopper, than he might get greater offensive fouls called on his guy. I used to think of bruce bowen became no longer hassle-free like this, yet after seeing what he does (and no, he did no longer attempt to trip Amare, he hit him interior the Achilles together with his foot/shoe, it incredibly is infinitely worse - would have injured him). the factor his, those issues he did/does have no longer something to do with the play (pass to youtube and notice what they have there on him). The kick to Amare, invading the area of a shooter, then putting his ft the place the guy will land, tangling his ft with Carter on a similar time as he's interior the air, AFTER the shot... those all have no longer something to do with protection, on account that they're after the shot; for this reason intense and grimy - they're in basic terms meant to injure or a minimum of sluggish a participant down. i'm no longer able to declare he's the worst, on account that i do no longer watch those many gamers heavily, yet i'm beneficial he isn't the only one. i did no longer see the knee to Nash, yet I observed him laying on the floor in a replay, and it made me each and each of the madder.

I think part of it is the NBA sees Kobe cleaning up his image. His merchandise sales are increasing and he id outselling Yao in China in jersey sales. They lost trust in him so the are trying to keep him down and hype Lebron and next year it will be Oden and Durant. The NBA is unforgiving when you "screw them" and tarnish their public image. With the fans feeling like the league is a bunch of thugs they are looking for "clean cut all-American" players. (Even though the Europeans are arriving in droves).

It is kind of weird, but I think that they're more going for effect than punishment. They're trying to show that he is a superstar, but he's still not above the law, and has to play by the same rules everyone else does (Kinda contradicts itself tho right?)
