How do I turn off EVDO/ VCast on my new LG VX8500 White Chocolate?

I want it to be in 1X Only. It's supposed to save battery life.

I'm not sure where you heard that, but it is not remotely true. EVDO is simply a faster data signal that you receive from the network over 1XRTT. Your phone will not have the ability to turn off or on either of the signals, and doing so will not increase or decrease battery power.
