I am writing a paper which must be on a controversial issue in Brave New World and 1984. It can be anything, so long as I can defend it and it is controversial. Thankyou in advance!

The books themselves are controversial, so finding a controversial topic shouldn't be that hard. Two of the underlying premises in Brave New World are that genetic engineering and day care are bad. I think a good (and controversial) case can be made that genetic engineering can be wonderful if it eliminates the chance of a child having a serious genetic disorder.
Likewise for day care. Some women have skills to contribute to society that are more important than child care, and this does not mean that a mother loves her child less.
As for 1984, there are endless ways to discuss it. Are we there yet? Will we ever get there? Will the MTV generation even care if the government takes away its rights? You could go on and on, and all are controversial.
Do you realize that someone born in 1984 can now legally buy alcohol, get married and have kids? How quaint that year was...
