Wow! I am so shocked to see that no one even mentioned the greatest athlete ever!
I believe one answer said that Michael Jordan was the most dominant at his sport.
well there is one man you should all remember, and that is
Lance Armstrong
7 tour de frances in a row, overcoming cancer and then turning right around and giving back to his community by starting a foundation that arose awarness to cancer.
I guarantee you will not see what that man did ever again, and that is why Lance Armstrong is the greatest athlete of all time.

I'm sorry but I have to add one more to your list.
Michael Phelps
The best swimmer in the history of the sport.
He holds over 5 world records including the one for gold medals. Swimming is one of the most physically demanding sports including underwater endurance as well as the physical fitness of any other sport.
Anything requiring true devotion, and athleticism is or will soon be an Olympic sport... the one who dominates that is Michael Phelps, a swimmer.

Michael Jordan. The man made basketball what it is today. There was nothing this man could not do be it dunk from the foul line or make three pointers like he was standing beneath the basket the man was unreal.
there has never been and will never be anyone who can so dominate a sport as Mike.

I don't know enough about all of these people and their sports. For sheer domination of their sport, you have to select Tiger, Federer and Michael Jordan. I would stick Rocky Marciano on that list too.
WHAT - NO NASCAR DRIVERS? hahaha - you're right, it's not really a sport.
