I think it means David Carr is done in Houston and the Texans will still not be that great.

It's not been a secret that the Texans are resigned to the fact that Carr is not going to be the man.

I think it will be interesting to see if they keep two good QB's or go with just Schaub.

It works well for both teams. Schaub would be a starter for a good number of teams in the league and will be a unrestricted free-agent at the end of the season. Considering the kind of money some teams would be throwing at him, it's good for the Falcons to get something out of it rather then just letting him sign somewhere else. Another thing to consider is what the Falcons are getting in return. The 8th pick in the draft, IMO will be Levi Brown which is good because the Falcons need help on the O-line. They also get a 2nd rounder from Texas this year and next... most likely high picks in the second round. It also locks in Vick as the starter, especially because under Petrino, the Falcons would have, most likely, started Schaub towards the end of the year.
The Texans really don't lose anything because they get Schaub and a first rounder that was 2 picks lower than they originally had. They need a LOT more than just Levi Brown. In the 10th spot, I predict they go for LaRon Landry... not bad considering his combine performance had him shooting up the draft board. He's the best safety in the draft.

I think the Falcons are getting ripped off. I also think it isn't that great for Schaub. Carr isn't alone as the problem. Shaub will be the same "problem" that Carr is. That is the simple fact that the O-line isn't doing a good enough job. To be honest I don't think Carr has much left in him though. How often can you get knocked down and get back up? Take all his sacks and knock downs and you have the case of someone who just is lucky to be standing.

Hey Scottie remember the Falcons also gave up Farve, might not have seemed as stupid then but still they seem to not be the brightest on QBs. They stick by Vick(when everyone knows he should be a RB not a QB) and they give up Schaub, when you look at their history when it comes to QBs this just fits right in.

bad move for the falcons good move for the texans. Matt Schaub is a great under used quarterback and with Petrino coaching the Falcons Michael Vick might not get that many more second chances. Now Houston would have an option and a reliable, healthy, under used quarterback that could possibly light a fire under a stagnant offense with the addition of Ahman Green. Not that David Carr had a chance but it might be time for a change, for at least the franchise to save some face and move in a new direction.

David Carr is done for Texans unless something else happens. The Falcons trade away a good QB for a 2 round pick.Bad move Falcons.Who else does the Falcons have to back up and eventually take Mike Vicks starting job?Now they will probably sign and old QB who has nothin left in the tank.Texans got the better of the trade, but will still struggle with probably the worst offensive line in the past 10 years.

People that trade is ridiculous. If so you are all right that is dumb for falcons and good for Texans. Texans need a pocket QB but it doesn't matter what QB is behind their Oline would not do good. David Carr can be a surprise under falcons Olin and need Andre johnson type WR on the team and he would be amazing if given a chance. At least Falcons swap 1 round picks and get a player that they could get at 8 instead of they might not get at 10.Yeah Vick is good but his style of playing is hard to base a playbook off it without a good go to guy WR, he's style of playing fits great for a college playbook but college tricks barely work in the pro. They need to get rid of vick, keep shaub, get Jarrett or Mencham as your WR, get short yardage WR, and with Joe Horn the Falcons can do good.

Falcons couldnt trade Vick because he would burn out the cap penalties because they paid him that non sense money if it wasnt for peyton mannings endorsement deal he would be piad a lil bit more than the best QB in the league and no way in hell he deserves that

specific. additionally they traded Brett Favre years in the past. i assumed he might have had a harm out year with the Falcons, yet they have not opened their eyes and found out that Vick is likely one in all the poorest quarterbacks interior the league and he can not outrun shielding backs any extra. Vick is a extreme criminal duty and until the Falcon administration realizes this, they'll proceed to lose. Schaub will do nicely with Texas, and that i don't think of Joey Harrington is extra useful than Schaub.

Great move for Schaub to show his potential as a starting QB, he's shown it in the past that he can start and is good, but I don't think it really matters what QB you put there, the QB is gonna end up on his tailbone until they fix that o-line, I'd like to see Schaub start but if I were him I'd be begging to go anywhere other than Houston. David Carr has to be begging to get out of there by now, he is a GOOD QB, he just needs an o-line to give him more time, but he's begging to get out of a Texans uniform, but anyways, great trade for Houston if they can get help on the line and this would be like when the Falcolns let Favre get away from them....deja vu possibly.

For everyone thinking this is a dumb deal for Atlanta. You are greatly mistaken

Atlanta needed to ship Schaub out before the draft if they wanted to get anything for him. By the end of next year Schaub would be a F/A and the Falcons would have gotten nothing for him.

Everyone also has to realize the worth of draft picks. There is a chart that shows what each pick is worth. Check out the chart. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/6330687

The Falcons must have realized that who ever they are going for in the 1st round of this years draft (Landry or possible Adams) could be gone by 10 so that is why they wanted to move up.

Also everyone needs to realize how huge the Texans 2nd round pick is for this year and next. The Falcons now have the 8th, 40th, and 42th pick in the draft. This will allow them to pick up better talent.

For all those Vick hatters. Wait and see what happens this year. New coaching could cure his problems. Also if Vick ever gets replaced don't be surprised if Atlanta tries to get Brian Brohm from Louisville if they could get him next year.

I hope Schaub does well in Houston because he deserves a chance to start somewhere.

I think its good for Schaub and Vick. Schaub gets a chance to shine now and Vick doesn't have to worry about the talk of him being replaced by Schaub as if that was going to happen anyway.
