There is a myth that says, "Alcoholics do not like sweets." Therefore, if you like cookies or candy you cannot be an alcoholic. Based on medical studies it has been proven to have no validity. That is there is no correlation between a preference for sweets nor a dislike of sweets and alcoholism.

Never get between an alcoholic and his ice cream. Yes, it has been my experience that there is a relationship. It's not scientific but I was married to someone who had a problem and yes, he did like his sweets whether he was drinking or sober.
