Plant cloning can work in a number of ways. For starters, many plants are perfectly capable of asexual reproduction, and so merely taking a cutting of a root or stem will enable one to grow a whole new plant that has the same genetic make up. Another way is to tissue culture the plant. You can develop tissue culture from the reproductive parts of the plant, or the root or even leaves, and form callus tissue that you can then regenerate into a whole plant.

These are a couple of the more common ways anyway.
