It depends upon what the poll is for, and how well it is written to give the clearest picture of the facts, and how well the polling methodology captures the populace. I think polls are not necessarily good for the political process.
I'm not big into many of the political polls, and many of the news reports don't really give a clear picture of what they really mean.
Take presidential approval polls, for example. On this site, people cite the numbers as if it proves an overwhelming number of Americans don't support Bush. But that's not what the poll really means. And it doesn't mean that there are that many supporters of Democrats, either.
Politically, the only poll of any note occurs on election day, IMO. All the rest, including exit polls, is BS.

People need to know that others have the same opinions, like and dislikes as everyone else. They are basically a waste of time. I usually put down the opposite of how I feel about whatever they are polling just to screw things up. Anarchy!

Polls are never right so I'd have to go with a useless waste of time and money.

Useless.
I remember all the polls being conducted up in Michigan this past election year was saying one of the proposals was going to fail by like 60-40.
It ended up passing 80-20.
You mean that kind of poll?

Lately I don't believe anything that statistics show or polls show. It's become just another way to condition people to believe whatever the ones who conduct the statistics or polls want them to think. For example if a tea company wants to eliminate coffee as competition they might come out with a statistic which states "Doctors have found that drinking coffee causes brain damage in healthy adults"and ''Drinking tea everyday has been discovered to strengthen the immune system and prevent cancer"Those are just examples of what might be said as a statistic to create anxiety among coffee drinkers and win them over to drinking tea instead.I think we need to stop listening to what everybody else is saying and come to our own conclusions and think for ourselves. If we let the idiots do it for us then what will that do to us?Turn us into idiots as well?Maybe, most likely. These days there is so much deception going on everywhere you look and everybody seems to want to stomp on everybody else just to make a buck.So if you hear results of a poll which was supposedly taken or a statistic which was recently discovered and neither of them make any sense to you then just dismiss them as a lie and move on.

Waste of time - they are never completely accurate. It is impossible to poll every one in the US - so that means polls are just estimated.
