they sing all day but are heard more in these two times due to less noise from other things. but they do sing more in the morning as they have just woken up and like us humans start talking and communicating with their surroundings. thats why you get the 'dawn chorus'

They sing all day but at morning and night there is less background noise so they're easier to hear. Without being scientific, the best answer I heard for why do birds sing: because they can.

They sing in the morning because the insects aren't awake yet so they have nothing else to do. This gives them a chance to shout for mates and claim their territory. Later on when all the insects are up and about the birds are too busy catching food to sing.

I think you'll find that they sing all of the time, it's just that during the day there are lots of other noises to overpower the bird's. Certainly true of roosters.

Early morning and evening are poor times for most birds to hunt for food, so they use that time to mark their territory.
Birds do not sing because they enjoy music. We don't even know if it sounds musical to them. It's a warning to others of their specie to stay away " this is my territory ".
They don't mind nesting close to other knids of birds, but not their own. Of course, there are other species of bird that do nest very close to each other, but they don't sing.
