Absolutely! I'm 100 percent pro life, and I think that they should see what they are about to kill, because that's what their doing. All these pro choice people say "Well, it's not a baby." Ummm...hello. If you don't kill the "fetus", then after 40 weeks *or sooner* you will deliver a baby. What the crap!
I completely agree that they should do this. Maybe then, the abortion rate would go down, , and adoption would be a choice for them. I'm sorry, but if you're not ready to have a child, then do not lay down and have sex. Sex=babies. I don't care how old you are, if your single or married, or what the circumstances are. Don't want a baby? Keep your legs closed! Just because your stupid and selfish doesn't mean that your child doesn't deserve a chance at life.

most abortion clinics already require an ultrasound. this is to check for the gestational age of the baby so that a woman can't lie and say she's in her first trimester when she's really seven months along. It's also to check for other things pertinent to the abortion, like size and postion. It's very very sad, but these things need to be checked.
It is not, however, required for the mother to watch the ultrasound. if this is what you're asking..... I'm on the fence about this one. A friend of mine was almost four months pregnant when she was diagnosed with a severe blood clotting problem and was forced to abort (if she didn't they both would have died, there was no saving the baby as it was not viable, so there was no choice), she had already seen the ultrasound and this was the most horrible time of her life. Even though I may disagree with it, some people have reasons why they abort. Although if it's just some 16 year old girl who thinks she can use abortion as birth control, maybe watching the ultrasound will make her realize it is a baby she is growing inside her and not just a mistake.

A medical ultrasound should be performed to check the gestational age of the fetus.
I assume what you're referencing is the bill to force a pregnant woman to look at the ultrasound before the abortion is performed. Personally, I haven't really decided yet whether I support that measure. It has been shown that women tend to change their minds about having an abortion if they see an ultrasound image, so the pro-lifer in me is in favor of it. But I'm not sure that creating a law to force people to do anything they may not want to do is a good idea.
And to the women who suggested that an ultrasound would only be used to determine the gender--that's about the last thing in the world an ultrasound is used for.

Yes an ultrasound is required before having an abortion, so they can check to see how far along you are.
I went with a friend and had to watch her baby bob around on the screen knowing that s/he wasn't going to make it this time around.
If you are going to have an abortion, be prepared for this and do not look at the screen when they scan you.

I'm not sure it would really change anyone's mind, and then you possibly destroy the mothers life.
My SIL had an abortion after having an ultrasound, she knew it was a boy, had even gotten a few gifts. I can't tell you how horrible it was for the rest of us at the time. It tore the family apart. Now, we have moved on, and she still has nightmares.
I love that baby, miss him terribly, and I totally agree that she murdered him, but she was a scared little girl at the time. She was told it was for the best. She was told that having that baby was unfair and selfish. She was told that having that baby would ruin her life and his. I think that compassion and caring will help save more babies than hate and name calling. Give these girls choices before they take that step, because after it is done, no amount of guilt will change it.

I assume this is referencing North Carolina's bid to require a woman to watch an ultrasound of her unborn prior to an abortion? I think its a good idea. While people will say, an abortion is hard enough, don't put the woman through more, I feel its a good thing. It may prevent those abortions that are so deeply regretted later on. Its a life altering experience to actually see your baby and its heartbeat. Just my two cents.

Yes, let's heap even more guilt on the poor woman/girl by showing her the cute little zygote, why don't we? This is a tactic that so-called 'pregnancy crisis centers' use to emotionally blackmail pregnant women into not having abortions.
The only reason I can think of to make ultrasounds necessary is to determine the age of the zygote/fetus before administering the surgery.

the technique of abortion is incredibly gross, and the alternative is many times regretted by technique of the mummy. besides the indisputable fact that, I nonetheless imagine it will be a decision as to if or no longer a newborn will be born lower than particular circumstances. The humorous ingredient is that there are professional existence human beings and professional decision those who could consider that reality. Having a mom see a very sound is a superior way for her to work out her toddler as a particular, residing human existence. besides the indisputable fact that it also seems cruel to flaunt an ultrasound at a mom set on an abortion. i really haven't any solid opinion on the count number number, besides the indisputable fact that, do not label professional decision human beings as toddler killers, that only makes you look ignorant.

They do perform an ultrasound to make sure you are pregnant and to confirm how far along you are. They can not perform abortions after so many weeks and it is really dangerous to do before 6 weeks.
Lol, I get thumbs down for stating a fact, lets get real here people. I am not saying I agree or disagree, I am just saying I know they do. I wrote a paper once and had a friend who did it if you really need to know.

Depends on how far a long in the pregnancy you are. Some do ultrasounds to determine the location of the baby in the uterus.
