Sometimes. I think society rewards heroic acts, luck, aggressiveness, confidence, and risk-taking. It is true a person can be a hard worker and find success. But often, you can be a hard worker and success will ellude you whereas others who have not worked so hard will find success very easily. Take a look at the majority of CEOs - true, some worked their way up within companies to positions of prominence. Others come from long, family lines of "leaders" and were placed in positions due to their friendships. Many people will succeed in the workplace because of their attitude and confidence, not necessarily because of their skills, intelligence, or hard work. Even loyalty is not always rewarded over a more cut-throat perspective.
I guess sometimes you have to be satisfied with doing what feels right by you. Whether or not you are successful by society's standards isn't always an indicator of happiness or contentment in life.

Which "society"? There are a myriad of them -a workplace, a tribe, a cult, a country.....you get the drift. Some places in the world, hard work is all there is, and then you die, without much at all. In other "societies" people like Paris Hilton are seen as role models for having lots of money without working for it at all.
And what, exactly, is a "reward?" Is it external validation - fast cards, big houses, lots of cash to throw around? Is it the satisfaction that comes from learning something new, and sharing that learning with someone else?
Asking questions with more precision will result in answers that are more specific.

Open your eyes.
The "hard work" is picking vegetables in a field. Machining engine blocks from steel. Mopping up the offices at midnight.
The rewards all go to clever people who are allowed access to the system, and are willing to profit from the hard work of others.
I worked much harder when i was younger. Now that i've gone through college and have done the corporate dance, I get paid pretty well to do practically nothing.
Sitting in board rooms, listening to people... it may be important, but calling it hard work is ridiculous.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Because the poor people do the most work and get paid the least. While the Rich people do nothing (Paris Hilton for example) and get rewarded with the big buck. Granted her Grandfather (Paris Hilton's) did actually have to work to get rich.

I am sure it varies by society. It does not in a Socialist society, does in a Capitolist society.

Sure they do, by giving you more work that's increasingly difficult. Ever heard the phrase - no good deed goes unpunished.
