I keep hearing people say that most women feel beautiful when they're pregnant, but I'm just not one of them. I am sooo thrilled about my baby girl, I just want to enjoy this experience. I've always been borderline obsessive about my weight. I'm growing increasingly depressed as my belly gets bigger and the scale climbs. I just want to be happy and have a healthy child. If anyone has any tips about how I can deal with this, I would appreciate it.

It's easy to get depressed over the way you look during pregnancy. On top of your weight gain you probably feel tired and sick and don't feel like taking steps to fix your self up.
I suggest getting together with a friend and having a beuaty day. Get a manicure, pedicure, a new hair style maybe a new outfit and then go out for dinner.
Don't worry about your weight so much embrace it and love it... as long as your baby is healthy who cares? It will melt away after the baby is born.
With my first I felt the same as you but with my second I was determined to not let that happen again.

Its just your hormones everything seems more serious when your pregant just dont let it get to the point that you start dieting and put the baby at risk. Also remember alot of it is swelling and you will go back after the babies born. I found the middle trimester to be the most confusing and scarry over all but you should start feeling more optmistic and excited near the end of your pregancy. Talk to your babies father about how your feeling he'll probably tell you your beautiful.
I wish you the best and hope you feel better!!

Just wanted to say that you're not alone. I am 18 weeks pregnant with my first and I haven't really gained anything at all, but my belly looks huge to me. I stare at it when I am laying in bed at night and feel so crappy about myself because my body doesn't even look like my body anymore. I just try to remind myself that it's only for a couple of more months and it will be all worth it. I try not to think about my belly and focus on happy thoughts instead. It's rough, I know.

Yes you are normal ... However getting into a prenatal excersize routine such as yoga, pilates, joining a gym, swimming. Try to stay in the best of shape possible and regardless of cravings if they are not healthy such as mashed potatoes and gravy (common craving my wife had) resist the craving you want to avoid as many stretch marks as possible. Use the best cocoa butter cream you can find and drink lots of water. When you start obsessing you must teach your self control and think positive.

I've heard that baby girls "rob" their mother of beauty because they are taking it all and the opposite is true for little boys. I'm pregnant with a little boy and I'm also 24 weeks as of yesterday. I am exactly opposite of you. I feel great, think I look great and frankly am loving this pregnancy. I would just say...think positive and don't worry,.....you probably look wonderful!

You know what...on friday I will be 24 weeks and I was feeling unatractive the first months...what I sugest you to do is: go out shopping buy some nice clothes and shoes, if u r going out with your husband try to put a little bit of makeup do u hair..that will make you feel beautiful and raise your autoestime. Try it! and good luck

Of course. I feel fat, disgusting, swollen, exhausted, miserable, cranky...you name it. It's hard to feel beautiful when you catch a glimpse of your stretch marks and cankles...and when you start to waddle...but that's just part of it girlie! I know it won't last forever and even though I may feel disgusting I know my daughter is going to be beautiful! It's worth the weight I'm putting on.

But yes, it's totally normal to feel like this!

you need to take a day out every couple of weeks to go out and buy a new outfit or something to make you feel pretty. You can also go and have your hair washed and styled, or get your nails done. Go have a massage anything to pamper yourself should help you feel better about your apperance...
