I was wondering, what word means, "a statement that cannot be proven or disproven". Any word other than opinion please!

an ALLEGATION.......It's an accusation that is not yet proven.

dammit! i'm sure there is one....

it's not *hypothesis* - this is a statement of suggested *fact* made with the intention of proving or disproving it
it's not *theory* either - this is a provisional statement of a framework that best fits the available evidence. again, the intention is that it can/will be proved or disproved as more evidence is collected.

*belief* could be close, as something that can be proven or disproven is *knowledge*. *belief* stands outside the discourse of proof and disproof.

*indeterminate* would describe that kind of statement, but it's not a *name* for it....
dogma?
uncertainty?
conjecture?

but i am convinced that there is a technical term. in some kind of logic- or maths-related area. like godel's incompleteness theorum :(

I'm thinking the most appropriate would be "article of faith". The problem is that it is not a word but a phrase, nominal variety. Theory and hypotheses can be proved or disproved.

I always call those "Bogus" questions. (But then, I never made it into high school.) Theory probably sounds better.

An opinion... if it's someone's opinion- then it can't be right or wrong (unless it is a fact.)
