I saw this question asked in an article I had read and thought it was interesting and wanted to see what people thought.

Isn't it arrogant to think this?
Not everybody is the same.
Financial security can make you seem uppity.
Emotional security, can make you have an open heart to anyone and anything.
If you have no security you can still be an arrogant asss.....

I am more certain that security breeds complacency more than apathy, and ignorance more than arrogance.
I think that when you become 'secure' with a relationship; (whether that is a job, couple, or friendship you aren't afraid of what lies around the next corner. You aren't afraid of what tomorrow will bring and you aren't concerned about the next paycheck. You become ignorant of your surroundings because you aren't lacking. You are not near enough to that position to make a call. You become unaware of what others are facing on a day to day basis.
Security and blanket go hand in hand for a couple of reasons; One is babies need their security, thus the blanket. The other is that a security blanket (A healthy fiscal bottom line) is easy to hide under when things get rough.

The very question has stripped me of my security and made me feel as if I need to breed but I am afraid that my arrogance will grow with the experience because... well...

Seriously...

Yes. It is a matter of point of view. If you are wearing rose colored glasses then things appear differently then they actually are in the real world. You tend to think that what you have in your environment is exactly what it is everywhere and if they don't have it, by golly they had better get it. Because it works for me, it is going to work for them. Hence the arrogance. You then force upon the unsuspecting less Rosy living individuals your point of view giving them a feeling of shame for their current living conditions. Making them feel as if you are arrogant. You then react with a strong feeling of contempt for them because you had the best of intentions and matters can escalate until relations become rather hostile. Hostilities can lead to atrocities and atrocities breed atrocities. It is a type of inbreeding that continues until it is so distorted that no one can recognize it for what it really was.

Or so I surmise from a cartoon that I watched as a child. I think it was a tweedy bird one if I remember correctly. :)

It can lead to those, yes. I think you can look at the state of the U.S. and see that in our every day behaviors, attitudes, and actions. (not everyone, of course.)
