Next time, mention where you're driving from, Michael, and many people will be able to help you.
Either way, coming from the north, you need to avoid some countries: Sudan (civil war), all the West and central West African countries (tropical forest and no English), Angola or Mozambique(lack of roads and no English), Zimbabwe (lack of fuel).
You can enter Africa from Europe or Asia through the Seuz hiatus. But remember, at Seuz you're still as far from SA as Alaska is from Brazil. This continent is B I G!

Michael maybe you meant driving from place to place in South Africa? I have lots of self drives that i promote but if you don't one you like please contact me and i'll help you out. If you are driving in South Africa i agree with a previous answer and stick with Cape Town, winelands and Garden Route. If you go to the north perhaps hire a driver guide.
Good luck

Google a world map dood,
then you will see if its feasible to reach South Africa from where you are.
coming down through Africa might prove a bit dodgey - have an arsenal ready but you will eventually end up at the southern most country - South Africa

You could ask your travel agent, there are many ways you can drive around South Africa in a car, but not all of them are safe.
In the Cape there is the Garden Route. But you could just as easily book a bus tour to see those places.

Depends where you are travelling from;
In theory ----->( and Africa is a huge continent )
You could start at the port of Alexander Egypt ( North Africa)
and follow down, over many countries borders
On and on -----> through the continent to finally arrive in In Cape Town South Africa.
good luck

If you're going from the US, wait until it is mid-winter, go North to Canada, across the ice in a big circle to Russia, then South until you reach the Middle East, then, carefully dodging the bullets, head for Egypt then keep going South until you can't go any further, you'll be in South Africa.
