Is $600 worth it?
So few games
Xbox has such a big lead and the Wii just offers more fun.

i think it will, its losing ratings week after week. Sony already loses money per system, i'm sure it kills them that nobody is buying the things.

on a side note, without money being a factor, i recently purchased an Xbox 360 cause of price, amount of games, and its amount of functions

I turned down a Wii cause i believe that controller will get old. If you look at the accessories u can buy, u can actually purchase a regular controller for the wii. Once that controller gets old, games cannot match the power of Microsoft and Sony

Example of Sony's loss : Devil May Cry 4 will also be released for hte Xbox 360 cause the company feels they would lose tons of money to keep DMC a PS exclusive title. Next thing will be Final Fantasy 13 on the Xbox (i hope!)

I don't think it will end up quite like Dreamcast - i.e. Sony will not suddenly pull the plug on it and go out of the game hardware business like Sega did.

No, I think it may suffer a fate like other proprietary Sony formats - Beta, MiniDisc, etc. They will continue to build and support it for years, but it will never be mainstream. It will exist in its own little world of Sony stores and dedicated Sony users, blissfully pretending that it is king and that the outside world doesn't exist.

It is still early, and Sony could still pull it out. A few killer games and a price cut - it could take off. But you are right - it isn't looking good. Sales figures show people just aren't thinking about the PS3.

Check the ratings around Christmas and see which system flies off the shelf.

Ps3 coming out with an online second life like game next week

-Online game play includes video chat- and the ps3 has the rumble controller back after settling lawsuit.

The PS3 has soooo many capabilities in fact recently Ps3 owners were invited to have their Ps3 processing power used to run protein folding program used in research for cancer- So while the ps3 owner does homework their Ps3 is helping to find cures for cancer and other stuff. Standford found that the ps3 can do in two weeks what a high end computer takes a year to do.

I predict the Wii will actually over take all the game console sales because most people will own the ps3 and Wii or Xbox and Wii.

Sony is going to lose millions over this one. The PS3 is failing (pretty miserably) right now, but it'll pick up again. There are some pretty diehard fan(boy)s out there. It won't go the way of the Dreamcast though, Sony has plenty of money from other ventures, like TVs, radios, movies, etc. Blu-Ray is gonna hurt them too though. :P

Sony's launch was a complete disaster but once they get their games out it will recover somewhat. The PS2 was a disaster at launch as well. But I don't think the PS3 will dominate the market the way the PS2 did in it's time.
