To the guy above me: what's racist?

Wikipedia says that Gibson hit between 150 and 200 HR in official ***** League games. However, ***** teams generally played many, many exhibition games that wouldn't be counted in the above total, and most estimates put his lifetime total at around 800.

The same article says he homered about once every 15.9 at bats; if you extrapolate that to a 15-year major league career at 500 AB/year, then he'd have had around 470 HR.

The 800 estimate is the one that I've heard the most, but the ***** teams would paly exhibition games frequently that were more like the games the Harlem Globetrotters play than a competitive game between equal teams.

Probally around 600-800 HR, but most were in exhibition games against dubious opposition. If you factor in Babe Ruth's exhibition and spring training games he hit about 1000 home runs so that arguement of Gibson hitting more don't hold water.
