Like many others, I am a veteran of watching presidential wrong doing being challenged. I watched the whole Nixon mess, the Reagan mess and the Clinton thing.
Trust me when I tell you, you are going to see some really good theater here - and you will see the Constitution in action. You will see why and how our country has survived for so long.
It won't always be pretty; it won't always be just - but for those who watch it, it will be an educational experience.
I look forward to it. It brings home to roost that WE, THE PEOPLE run things in this country - not whatever sap resides in the White House.

Ignoring any potential hypocrisy (which would only be hypocrisy if the same individuals were doing it)....
Executive privilege has specific value, and specific application in defined situations. It is intended to protect confidential communications with the Executive, same as attorney-client privilege and doctor-patient privilege and clergy-penitent privilege. Each privilege has specific rules that define when it applies. It's not blanket immunity to testify.

We are in the process of having poiltical theater in the form of trials for things that don't mean anything to anyone but journalists who can exaggerate the importance of the story and themselves and politicians who use these events to convince the weak minded that they are the moral ones. Happened under Clinton, happened under Nixon, happened under Reagan, will happen under Bush. This is an election year and its time to prey upon the stupid. so yeah.

Yeap, they slammed Clinton for doing it and I wonder if they'll turn out in droves to denounce bush for the same thing. My guess is no.

He he - it's a losing battle, but Bush will play because it delays progress towards making him accountable.
