Yes, in part. But basically, divorce rates are high for the same reason we have so many other problems.

People are selfish.
People can always find a way to justify anything they do or dont want to do.

People dont usually suffer much for being bad.

Today, morals are thought to be what a person likes or dislikes, rather then what God said is right or wrong.

Love is patient, not self serving, it is kind, gentle, compassionate, long suffering.

I don't think that it has anything to do with the way love is viewed by people.

In my opinion, if you compare the divorce rate to say 30 years ago, 20 years ago, if course it is higher. I think it has a lot to do with the society and the culture we live in.

Women are more independant, which gives them more monetary freedom to make their own decisions, however, that doesn't always result in sound judgement.

The divorce rates are the highest on the American continent and it's mostly to do with the way of life. Some of basic values and morals are next to non-existant, we are thought that money - in general, rules the world.

Now, I can't say that everyone lives that way, but the cultural pressure to do well and marry well is high and some people can not handle it. That also includes cheating.

And to add, some people marry just for the sake of not being alone, yet not accepting the responsibility that comes with it.

I think divorce rates are high because of the following:

1. We are an impatient society that wants quick fixes. Staying with someone in difficult times is not always a quick fix.

2. We have unrealistic expectations. You have to make yourself happy before someone else can make you happy.

3. Women have a lot more options. It is acceptable now for a woman to be single and financially secure in a job. That wasn't so a few generations ago.

4. A disrespect to the institution of marriage as a whole. There are far too many people willing to interfere/replace a person in another person's marriage.

There are others, but that's a start.

Excluding abuse of any kind and cheating, divorce rates are high because people are afraid of a little hard work. They aren't willing to work hard to keep a marriage good so that it doesn't have to get as far as THINKING about a divorce. Anything worth having and keeping is never easy. If it seems too easy, then something is probably wrong.

Divorce rates are high because men are not biologically dispositioned for monogamy. Monogamy is a cultural/social phenomenon. As women have become more independent and able to care for themselves, the divorce rate has gone up. The divorce rate has gone up, but the "I am unhappy and i wish my spouse would die" rate has remained constant (that last statement, obviously is unscientific, but if you have older folks you can talk to that will tell you the truth, you will be enlightened).

Divorce rates are so high b/c we live in a disposable society - you don't like it anymore, you get rid of it. It's easier to walk away than to stay and work on things. I'm not sure about anyone else but when I got married I signed up for life, my marriage vows didn't come w/ a 'return if not happy' clause....

Divorces are high because everyone has forgotten the value of family and sticking by each other through good and bad. Every ones caught up in themselves and whats going on in society. Plus people are more promiscuous now than ever no respect so its more likely to have affairs.

No, divorce rates are high because people are basically emotionally immature and selfish.

A successful marriage relationship is not rocket science by any means, but too many couples are just not prepared to enter into a marriage.

ABSOLUTELY. People these days think that marriage is a 3-5 year commitment that can any time they have their first major fight. Usually by then they already have a kid or two, who then grow up thinking the same way as their parents. It's why we have so many families with step dads, step brothers, and multitudes of kids with different parents who can't figure out why they live in a house with people they're barely related to.

I think that divorce has become too easy. People look at marriage as a date now. It's like breaking up with a girlfriend or boyfriend to them. What, it's like $175 for a divorce and $90 an hour or more for couples' counseling. It has just become too easy to "quit".
