They know when they have done something wrong. My old dog Susie used to crawl literally and then wag her tail to show how ashamed she was. Nutter. She also used to chase much bigger dogs and then run up to me SMILING and waiting for praise. She didn't like fat people either and would try to chase them !! Acting the goat - exactly - good play on words!!!
