In houses you are throwing money at insurance, taxes, and interest. Not to mention all of the things you need to make a home work. In apartments you are not responsible for anything that breaks and you can leave if your area gets bad. So what are the benefits of homeownership? Most people pay more in mortgage interest than others pay for rent so I do not nee the benefit. I know you get tax write offs, but if you could close the monetary flood gates to the mortgage company, utilities (always higher in homes), city/county/local robbers....taxation representatives I mean, then you would not require the tax break.
