Well, in my personal experience I do have a Gamecube & I can't wait for the moment that I buy the Wii & buy a few good games as well. Right now I can't get involved into buying alot of things because I have other responsibilities & I'm not saying that I would never buy it either. When I do get it, I won't get rid of my Gamecube because I have the "Game Boy Player" that I can use it since I will have the Wii for Gamecube games. When I get the system I'm also buying: Zelda, Red Steel, Super Smash Bros. Brawl & some other exclusive Wii titles. I mean, what's the point of having Twilight Princess in Gamecube since the Wii version offers cooler graphis, better gameplay & a way throw you into the game & experience the game like you never did. Well, these are the things I would do, but now it is up to you what you can do. Ok, see ya!

Trust me, there are a lot of good games out for Wii. Not only will all the games you listed be getting Wii sequels eventually, some of the current games are awesome. Reviews can be deceiving. I have had a lot of fun with Wii Sports, WarioWare (though I reccommend renting it), Zelda, Red Steel (again, reviews can be deceiving), Monkey Ball, Sonic, Madden (the Wii controls and new features make it much more than just a roster update), and some excellent virtual console games. Kororinpa, Elebits, Wing Island, The Godfather Blackhand Edition, and plenty more look awesome as well, although I have not played them yet. Plus, the games on the horizon look even better: Super Paper Mario, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Mortal Kombat Armageddon (with Wii controls and 1 more character than other versions of the game), MySims, and more.
I know, I know; I sound like a Nintendo employee. But I'm not; I'm just a Wii owner and very happy to be one.

Go for the Gamecube. My Wii is okay. There is no good games, and the only one that is good, Zelda, is out for the Gamecube. So, I would have to say you should go with the Gamecube for now. In the meanwhile, save your money and wait for the Wii to actually be in stock and the price to drop down. And seriously, the Wii is nothing until any good games come out.

I have a wii but $60 for a gamecube is a good deal, get the gamecube and your games because you will still need a gamecube controller and game to play it on the wii and then you can always sell the gamecube, because of the return policy is usually 30 days, so play for that time and return ;)

I say gamecube its a cheap system that anyone can enjoy, and you can play some of the classics such as, Legend of Zelda the Windwaker, The Metroid Series, Resident Evil Series, Super Smash brothers, Even Metal Gear solid twin snakes. I also recommend Tales of Symphonia and Twilight Princess.
