i have been having real trouble with this and i have test upcoming. I know the molecular weight of sodium hydroxide is 40 amu but I'm just lost on how to do it. Can someone show me how to do it with detailed work? I'd love that!

Molarity= moles of solute / liters of solution.
0.5 M = x/2L
x= 1 mol
1 mol of sodium hydroxide equals 40 grams.

40 g or 1 mol of NaOH in 2L of water.
