when it comes to clothes.....skip the cute little outfits.
onsies and sleep and plays all the way! everything else is just a pain in the butt (especially when you are changing diapers every 45mins).
dont forget the bulb suringe.
its the little suction thingy to clean out the baby's nose.
if your baby gets a cold....they are a life saver!
get a car seat with a base that stays in the car. you just push a button and the seat pops right out! that way you dont have to mess with seatbelts.
a swing is nice to have once your baby is a little older. 3 months +...but some dont like them.
P.S. dont waste your money on junk like wet wipe warmers, bumbo chairs, ect. most of the time you end up selling them at garage sales still in the box! (that doesnt mean you can't add them to your baby shower list though -l-)

Go register for a baby shower!!
we just registered at Babies R Us and they gave us a printout of exactly what we will need for the baby .. and after we did the registry (and made our list) .. they gave us a list of all the things that we might need that we didn't put on the list. Its very helpful!
We're also going to register at Target.
If you have a Toys R Us or a Babies R Us .. that's the place to start! it's VERY helpful!
its our first too! and there are SO many things you'd never think of ..
breast pump, air nueturalizer, bottle warmer, bottle dryer, a boppy, etc. etc. etc.
congrats! good luck! God bless!
*PS - you can also register online and get that printout!

Your baby NEEDS
1. Car seat (the hospital won't let you leave without one)
2. Some onesies, shirts, pants
3. Formula (if you're not breastfeeding)
4. Bottles
5. Diapers and wipes
6. Love
The rest are just extras that you don't NEED, but would be nice! Try to keep that in perspective and getting everything seems a little less stressful (or at least it helped me)

go to babycenter.com. its a great website.
also - sorry but I have to disagree with one of your answers. the walmart off brand formula isnt the same unless its different than what I looked at 3 years ago. compare ingredients and nutrients. If your going to breastfeed you may want to look into getting a good pump so you can give the baby a bottle at times. There is a book called "Caring for your baby and young child" from the american academy of pediatrics. Its a great book!!!

There are many websites with lists. You are going to need LOTS of things, really! www.babycenter.com is a really good pregnancy and baby resource website. You can also try www.baby-gaga.com. Both websites will give you a planning calendar to help you conquer small tasks throughout your pregnancy to prepare for the baby. Good luck!

Make sure you take your prenatal vitamins everyday and drink alot of water. Like 8 glasses a day. You will need alot of stuff. Babies are very expensive. Im sure you'll have alot of baby showers so you'll get alot of stuff. But you'll need a really good infant car seat. Get one with a matching stroller, they are very handy to have. You will need tons and tons of diapers and wipes so start stocking up now on those. And you'll need alot of onesies get those too. Well good luck and there is alot that you need but not enough time to type them all down. Good Luck!

You can google a list...
Somewhere to sleep..a pack and play is inexpensive and works well.
Some onesies
A bottle if you will bottle feed
formula if you will use it
diapers...lots of these
wipes....lots of these
Baby tylenol
nail clippers
Some little outfits...but you can always wash and rewear
Small blankets
Small toys or colorful objects to show him/her for play
WAL-MART IS AWESOME FOR FORMULA..their name brand is just as good and half as much!
They also have inexpensive diapers and everything on the list.
They really aren't expensive except for the formula!
