First of all headers have three main parts. The flange mounts to the side of the engine with a gasket. The tubes are welded after being precision bent to the length and contours they need to be. The then are held together with a mandrel at the exhaust end. There is where the Header exhaust collector is welded onto the tubes. Also this is where the flange goes that holds the exhaust pipe that goes to your muffler.
Headers are a very worthwhile apllication for any vech. The inside of the tubes is smooth and have very little restriction to them. If you purcahes headers get good ones. "HOOKER"-
HEDDMAN and others are really good. Remember yopu get what you pay for though. You can look for 15-20HP gain with a good system.. good luck

Headers won't have any effect on the exhaust note. I have never heard of an Apexi muffler.
If you want to be able to change the note, you have to change the length of your resonanting cavity, whether that be a resonator (if you have one, it doesn't sound like you do) or the length of your pipes. Why on earth you want a higher pitch is beyond me.

Headers increase the power your engine puts out by making your exhaust manifold pipes all the same length, no it shouldn't affect your fake sound maker because it should still go through a catalytic converter to be legal, that acts as a sound suppressor along with a muffler.

Headers are used to increase exhaust flow.
If you put them on your car, they WILL change the sound. It will be louder and (in my experience with friends and imports) will make the tone higher pitched

In my experience with headers, I found it gives you increased power and a little better gas mileage. You might also want to get a couple of cherry bombs installed to help muffle the loud noise.
