I would say "unforgettable" makes them almost a cliche' status. Not necessarily good or bad, but everyone has heard them. I would say:

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

Smoke on the Water - by Deep Purple

Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix

Sweet Child 'O' Mine - Guns and Roses.

You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC

Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne (Randy Rhoads)

Each one of these is so Iconic, that people know what the song is the moment the first few notes are played.

Johnny B Good - Chuck Barry

"Black Dog" - Led Zeppelin, such a unique song, and once you learn to play it (takes a while) on guitar, you can't stop yourself from playing it over and over
"Layla" - Derek and the Dominoes, No better way to start a song than with this killer Clapton/Allman riff.
"Cat Scratch Fever" - Ted Nugent
"Back in Black" - AC/DC
"Sunshine of Your Love" - Cream, like many of Cream's works, it paved the way for future awesome riffs (ex: N.I.B by Black Sabbath).
"Cocaine" - written by J.J Cale, made popular by THE Eric Clapton.
"Smoke on the Water" - Deep Purple, simple easy riff that sets a makes a statement and sets a standard.

Now that I know what a "guitar riff" is, I'll say Lindsey Buckingham's riff in "Rhiannon."

Damn...there are so many!

Over the years, I think of the following:

Chuck Berry - "Johnny B. Goode"
Chantays - "Pipeline"
Ventures - "Walk Don't Run"
Buddy Miles - Them Changes"
Status Quo - "Pictures of matchstick Men"
Rolling Stones - "Satisfaction"
Led Zepplin - Heartbreaker"
Grand Funk Railroad - "I'm Your Captain"
Aerosmith - "Dream On"
Beatles - "Day Tripper"
Jimi Hendrix - "Foxy Lady"
Funkadelic - "Maggot Brain"
Manfred Mann's Earth Band - "Give Me The Good Earth"
U2 - "God, Pt. 2"
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - "Ohio"
Eagles - "Hotel California"
Pink Floyd - "Comfortably Numb"
Z Z Top - "Blue Jean Blues"
Jeff Healey Band - "Confidence Man"
Allman Brother Band - "One Way Out"
Eric Clapton - "Motherless Children"

And on and on and on.....!

You've got the WORST taste in music and would have the WORST taste in entertainment if you liked talentless reality shows! Listen to good music like ICP!
