Thanks for the responses you guys. Yes its the EBV virus. My blood test came back and the doc told me I was recently infected w/an EBV infection. .. something along those lines.. I didn't really understand what she was saying. She said that is the reason I have been having chronic fatigue and feeling tired all the time. She said everyone has the virus. ?? Something abt everyone carries the virus but I was recently infected w/it. Can anyone make sense of this? I might just have to call the doc back. She acted like it was no big deal.. so I dunno....??

there is no EBD virus, you have misread or misunderstood your results, or the lab has a very strange method of abreviation.

You probably mean EBV (Epstein Barr Virus), it is the virus that causes infectious mononucleosis. By early adulthood, more than 90% of people have had the virus. If you are newly infected, you will have high levels of IgM to the virus and low or no level of IgG. If you are previously immune (like if you were exposed as a child) you would have low IgM and higher IgG.

Hope this helps.

ADDED LATER: If you are recently infected (High IgM) then yes, it can cause fatigue, fevers, enlarged lymph nodes. It usually resolves on its own. Sometimes you can have complications from mono, but they are rare and your doctor will likely check for them at your regular visits. Best thing to do is stay as active as you can tolerate...too much rest will cause you to lose more energy. No contact sports until you have had your abdomen examined (enlarged spleen is a risk of this virus). Best of Luck!
