I have a pageant coming up this weekend, and the only door to get to the stage is the same door you walk through in front of the audience. How could I or what would I use to make a "hall" blocked off where the audience couldn't see the contestants going to and from the stage to the dressing area. I have seen people stack long tables before...but I'm clueless how to do it? HELP!

Ask your drama department about their unit set. It is great for screens. You can use eight foot pylons and trifold flats.

The best way -- if time-consuming -- would be to build wooden frames out of 2x2 lumber and cover them with muslin.

Is there a nearby theatre company or school theatre department that could loan you some flats? You'd have to rig up a way to stand them up (and probably slap a coat of paint on them so it doesn't look too jury-rigged), but those are generally 4x8 feet and should provide some cover.

What about big pieces of cardboard paper layered with 2-3 butcher paper. Paper or cardboard would be the best way to go since you don't have a long time to get good screens.
