If you got no CD then you were supposed to create it yourself on a program on your computer, click start, all programs, something should say something like system recovery. Otherwsie call dell and ask them to send you the CD's to your computer.

We did that with my sisters HP computer, they send her the cd's for free.

the subject is probably loss of ideal XP drivers. because you obtain the laptop with ubuntu put in, DELL probably did not supply the XP driving force backup disk. you could nicely be waiting to get one from Dell, I have no thought. besides, See in case you have restoration disks for unbuntu. attempt twin booting homestead windows XP with unbuntu. Ubuntu has a good form of drivers and is designed to be undemanding to place in on distinctive machines. you ought to then attempt including Arch on your boot menu. reliable success

You can use any XP cd (Its best to use what version was installed on your laptop) Usually the CD key is printed on a green label on the bottom or back of your laptop, when you install xp use the cd key to activate it.

Yea...that's something you need to ask about when you buy a new computer heh? The OS disk! Comes in real handy when it needs to be formatted and reinstalled...Just about any Office Max, Best buy, Fry's Electronics...whatever has XP Operating system disks to buy...expect to pay at least $100...
Mine came with my computer... :-) (I asked)
Btw, it's always better to just backup your files, format and reinstall from scratch...takes the same amount of time as repairing it, but it's a "clean" install...much better.

Off the internet, though it's not so legal (BitComet, LimeWire DC++), but beware of the windows RECOVERY TOOL!!! it might erase your personal data, so I suggest you buy a mini-ide controller first, connect your laptop hard drive to another pc and save all your data!!! Anyhow, a fresh installation of any OS is better then overriding the original one... your call, wish u luck!!!

your dell may also have a recovery partition you can boot up.
press F12 or maybe Esc to bring up a boot list ... pick the recovery partition...
follow the steps and you can do a sys recovery and keep all your my documents folders.
They didnt give you a disk because you have everything you need on that other partition.
need more help...email or mssg me.

I would try contacting Dell about getting a cd from them. It may cost you $50, but you should be able to get one from them.
