The writer was Peter Schaffer.

I recommend Amadeus, which is also a fine play about the line between genius and madness. There was a film version of it with Tom Hulce and F. Murray Abraham, which is excellent. (The film version of Equus is good, but it looks more dated and so I find it harder to watch.)

Try wikipedia for a list of where you may be able to get a playwright. Also try mugglenet or some other HP site (just to check.)
P.S. When you find one could you tell me? :)

Peter Shaffer is in most search engines and you can track his works from there, I reckon.
Enjoy.
