I got to hear the heart beat and my baby is a little cute blob  but Which is more accurate? How accurate? The reason im concerned is because 4 weeks ago ((the 19th of feb)) I had a fling and well…me and my boyfriend have been togther for 6 years we decided it wasnt going to be a monogamous realtionship for the time being since we are the only ones each other have ever been with...and the first time i ever...well...go figure...but I just need to be beyond positive without a doubt there is no way I could be 4 weeks…my sister said when they are off your normally farther along then not….i wouldn’t of been able to hear the heart or see the baby if I were only 4…right?!? Pllleassssee any help you can offer! Im going crazy!!

The 19th of feb was my "fling" and the 19th of march was the sonogram...sorry for confusion!

The ultrasound is more accurate but in my case it was wrong so it isn't 100%. The only way you will be 100% is a paternity test. Sorry.

I don't think that they schedule to hear the heartbeat until you are at least 7-10 weeks pregnant. (Unless of course they are worried about something) Therefore my first presumption would be that you are definitely farther along then 4 weeks.

I think the best thing for you to do is to get a blood test and ask the doctor to determine a the approximate age based on your levels. (Compared to the 'standard' range)

Concerning the time period. I would first begin by figuring out the pregnancy on your own. Note the big days such as the first day of your last period, the day you had a positive pregnancy test. Then use one of those online calculators, they will tell you how many weeks you are and the possible date of conception.

If you were with that other man a few days before ovulation, during ovulation, or within the day or so after ovulation, then you may want to begin questioning who the father may be.

I helped the best I could! Good Luck!

Hi hon. Been there.. lol. The thing is that 4 weeks pregnant could mean 4 weeks pregnant, 3 weeks pregnant, or even 1 week pregnant. 4 weeks pregnant just means you got pregnant within that month.

Two ways you can tell (if done early in the pregnancy) without a DNA test. The doctor can do an internal and tell you how many weeks big your uterus is. At 5 weeks of whatever, he can tell because your uterus grows a cm a week. Or if you have an early ultrasounds, they can give you a accurate due date.. which, viola, gives you a conception date.

My ultrasoud was after 18 weeks (at that point, babies start growing individually, and not all the same).. so I really don't know who he is. But my friend had an early unltrasoudn, like before 14 weeks, and was able to pinpoint the father.

Hope that helps! Good luck and congraduations

I'm sorry but there is no way to know absolutely without a DNA test. the doctor is going off of your LMP and the ultrasound judges by size and development of the baby. They are both accurate but ultrasounds often measure wrong because not all babies have the same measurements (if they did, they would all be 7 lbs at birth). Try to find out what days you were ovulating (two weeks after your last actual period) whoever is closer is more likely the father. But understand that how many weeks goes from your last missed period, so if you are 6 weeks pregnant then you actually got pregnant 4 weeks ago (you're actually two weeks pregnant by the time you have sex, it's weird). good luck.

The Sonogram would be more accurate. When she told you that you were 7 weeks it was probably a guestimate using the information that she had at the time. When I was pregnant they first said I was due in Nov, then I had a Ultra sound they moved it up 4 weeks to October and my daughter was actually born at the end of Sept.

the sonogram is the most accurate especially if this is your first baby ( second and third are usually bigger )
The heart is one of the first things to form so that is not a good indication of how far along you are or are not.
Trust the sonogram and quit fooling around. Whether or not your boyfreind is willing to admit it- he is about to be a papa

If you are both still in doubt once the baby is here you can always do a DNA test

The sonogram is more accurate, I hope that answers your question.

Good luck

Yeah, if you measure 6 weeks on a sonogram then you concieved 4 weeks ago, the first 2 weeks of pregnancy you arent actually pregnant. Sorry

You can always work it out from your due date (if youve been given one), it'll be 38 weeks before that date but there are websites that'll work it out for you!

The sonogram said 6 weeks 1 day and the OB said seven weeks. That is only 5 days different. You can't get any closer that that. Calculating and EXACT due date or EXACTLY when you got pregnant is impossible. But I think that you wouldn't be only 4 weeks if they are saying 7 weeks

Relax!
The early scans are accurate within a few days either side, if they said you are 6 weeks and 1 day then you should believe them, it is highly unlikely that they are 2 weeks out at this early stage, and I am doubtful that you would have seen the 'cute little blob' if you were only 4 weeks.
Enjoy your pregnancy, don't let this ruin what is one of the most exciting times in your life.

Ok lets try this. If on 3/19 you are 6 weeks then and 1 day they are saying that your last menstrual period was feb 4th and that you likely conceived around February 18th. This makes it sound like it was your fling. So do you remember when your period was? If you go by your doctor then your LMP was Jan 23rd meaning you conceived around February 6th.
I would say it depends on where your period was closer to.
Does this make sense? You typically conceive 2 weeks after your last period, because you ovualte about half way through your cycle. Since no one can tell exactly when you ovulate they start counting pregnancy from the day of our last period.

Hope this helps.

An ultrasound is very accurate, more accurate than a doctor and thats when you truly know how far long you really are. An ultrasound does measurments and that determines how far along you are unless your baby isnt growing properly. You can hear the heartbeat at a month and a half because I did when I went to the doctor.
