It depends if the insurance company wants to settle or not. In my case, from the time the injury happened to the time the trial was over, it was 7 years. Then my lawyer, the court fees and my insurance company that had paid out on medical bills took their share of the money and left me with my now very depleted share and with permanent medical problems which I have used to try to get everything fixed because other doctors don't really want to deal with you while you are in the process of suing another doctor.

From the point of filing a claim to a final verdict at trial, usually between one and two years.
Most insurance companies settle sometime within the first year.

if the hospital is willing to settle the case with you, then it will be fast but if not, it will drag on
