No your neighbor must hate you it will ruin your phone and void the warrenty.

Absolutely not. This is a terrible idea. If you need just the buttons cleaned and ear area cleaned, the best way to get rid of germs is with a baby wipe. Gently wipe the phone off with that. Under no circumstances should you open the device up and do this or rub the battery down. If it's terribly disgusting, then you may wish to take it into your cell phone providers store and have them clean it. That way, if anything happens to it, you are not liable for any damages, they are.

Go back to said neighbor and ask if they want their phone cleaning too. Or maybe tell them you put rest of your families phones in too.

Your neighbor was being sarcastic... just use Sight Savers or anything used for cleaning camera lens. It has a mild cleaner and is non-abrasive so you can clean the LCD on your phone without damaging it.

Don't do it... I have a similar experience... I went to picnic on sea side and my phone went in the water... It is no longer working...
