well, many people for some reason decide to hate her, when they don't even know her, and nothing that she does effects them. I think that she is a great tennis player! However I do not like to watch her playing because she is so noisey all of that grunting. I also think that her grunting is cheating, alongside with her on court coaching. However she is under constant scrutiny from the media, and angry player haters, I think people should go easy on her. Some people say that they hate the way that she carries herself on court, shows no negative emotion blablabla, but I think that she is using a vey good mental strategy by doing that.

I personally don't care for her game. I enjoy it when she plays good players who are capable of exposing her weaknesses (there are really only 5 - JHH, Clijsters, Mauresmo, Serena and Venus). She is not a good mover on the court. Her volleys are the worst in the top 20. Her 2nd serve has disappeared within the last 6 months (I don't know what happened with that. It was actually the best in the biz all last year). Her overall form is just atrocious (watch her follow-through on her forehand). She is just unpleasant for me to watch. Her game is aesthetically unpleasing.
She gets away with brute force which doesn't do it for me. Obviously she's a very good player to get 2 grand slams but I'm sick of the comparisons to Monica Seles. Monica had 8 slams by the time she was Maria's age and she had more game, too. Maybe she'll go through some metamorphosis like the Williamses (remember how their games were in 1998 and how they had changed by 2000?) then I could get behind her. Until then, I will dread watching her play.
And I hate how overblown her looks are. How shallow is that whole thing?

She's a good player, makes a fortune and is quite pretty aswell. I see the dodgy stuff, but I also see the stunts pulled by the Williams and Henin, M.Sharapova is definitely not the only one cheating.
Furthermore, to suggest that she slept with some guy to "make her famous"... Yeah Goldengal (or is it Mulato?) for sure, cause you know she really needed some more of it after winning Wimbedon at 17...
Furthermore, you might consider her draws to be kind of easy, but have you taken into consideration that she's been one of the top4 seeds at every tournament she plays for about 2 years???
I have been accused of being "Sharapova-crazy" by some, yet I do not count her among my fave players, but she's definitely the one on my top10 who gets criticised unfairly the most. I have thus come to believe that there are a lot of people envious of her, which in itself is hilarious. Come on people! Get a life!

She's good but her tactics are somewhat suspect. Coaching aside, she is the loudest grunter on tour. It may not sound like much but grunting actually covers the sound of the ball coming, which makes it harder for some players to read how the ball will move. And if you listened to some of the commentary at Wimbledon last year, you would have heard that they don't grunt in practice (coincidence?).

im with goldengal on this one. though im not russian, i do follow tennis and i have watched sharapova closely. she is a good player, i'll give her that, and she is one of the most gorgeous women on the circuit. she does have a lot to work on as far as her game goes, as her ranking doesnt lie. BUT... her attitude is what bothers me. like goldengal said, she used to be humble but as soon as people started throwing money and attention at her she turned her back on the things that got her where she is. all of a sudden, she forgot her roots. that's not cool. she lives in america now and has become completely americanized. although it says she represents russia, the only thing that is considered russian in her is her last name. i dont respect that about her. also, her whole coaching controversy has now led the wta to undergo an experiment for coaching during matches. i just dont appreciate that because tennis is an individual sport and if you see how much on-court coaching has helped the players, it definitely favors the player who takes advantage of it. i think that's cheating and i cant believe it was sharapova who started this whole thing. but yeah... personally i just dont like her attitude... thats all. i dont hate her at all.. no vendetta or anything like that.

My problem is not with her game. She's a fine tennis player, but I don't particularly care for the way she carries herself on or off the court.
She needs a healthy serving of humility and time has a funny way of delivering just that. We'll see if Maria is the same player or person in a few years.

the problem with Sharpova is she has alot of good and bad controversy around her.... many people believe she does have underhand techniques because she is always yelling very conspicuously, secondly she has gotten the bad reputation of getting the easier hands of the draw, especially early on so this meaning she could carry deeply into the draw because the crowds supposedly floak to see Sharpova as she is the glam in the tennis world, She is good for the business aspect of tennis. How much this is true, i do not know, but look at last years US open, u can see Sharpova has more of a benign draw while Henin, Mauresmo, especially Henin were given difficult draws, and it was so convenient for Sharpova to win the US Open, considering Mauresmo had to play a very tough quarterfinal against S, Willams, while Henins injured her back and got worse with every match, so yes i believe with Sharpova there is something shady with her.

"Then her personal life is not for an idiol. Flew all the way to Spain to sleep with Ferero, flew to New York to sleep with Roddick and many other players. She became famous as the tennis *****."
What the hell are you talking about? You have no proof of this. Please stop reading the gossip magazines :)

It is pretty easy to hate on someone, especially if they take down Serena and Venus who was the face of tennis America at the peak of their careers. What happens if someone beat your favorite team, you hate the winner, of course.
No one likes to see a foreign competitor dominate at anything, especially when America, themself, considers it as the best.
