I'm turning 17 on April 1, 2007. The age of consent in Louisiana is 17. I have a G.P.A of a 3.0. I'm a very good student. I don't have a problem with going to school. The only time I get into it with my mother is behind my boyfriend. Help, I'm a desprite teen trapped in a horror movie....and the only thing I want for my birthday is to be able to chill and have fun with my boyfriend. I know my parents don't agree on his age but, I'm almost 17....I'm old enough to go to jail why can't I get other advantages....HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I know what your talking about I would never want to be a teenager again its so complicated but you have to understand something we have rules for a reason and with everything you do there's a consequence right now you don't see what you will see next yr and the yr after that and so on... Try to step outside of your situation and look at it from your parents point of view. Im sure the hell as you say they are putting you through is because they love you. It probably hurts them that there little girl doesn't want to spend her birthday with them they have been taking care of you 17 yrs your getting older and should try to give back to them some. If you show your parents you are mature they will give you move room to breath. Oh and you didn't mention how much older this man is than you but a man who messes with a 16 yr old girl is usually bad news.. you should think why cant he find a woman his age instead of messing with a child?

17 is a tough age to be. Your almost old enough to be considered an adult, yet most of us at that age still need a lot of guidance from people who have already been where you are, and know the perils of having too much freedom too soon.

Frankly, you sound just a little bit too immature to make all your own decisions, and I think you're very fortunate to still be living at home with "parents" instead of one parent. If you tough it out, and go along with your parents rules they can help save you from making some big mistakes that would haunt you for the rest of your life.

All the things that you want to do now, and can't, will still be available to you when you turn 18, and by then you will be wiser, and more mature, and may have good reasons of your own for not doing some of them, and the day will come not too many years in the future when you will thank God that you had parents who didn't let you do whatever you wanted because you will see what happened to your friends who had all that freedom.
Good luck!

You don't mentioned the age of this boyfriend which leads me to believe he is an adult and too old for you.

You are a minor child living in your parents house. You must obey your parents.

If the boyfriend is older, he is a child molester. Is that who you want to hang out with?

Straighten up, finish school, behave at home, drop the boyfriend. You will be 18 soon enough and if it's "love" it will still be there when you are.

Keep in mind, however, that turning 18 isn't going to keep your parents off your back if they think this guy is wrong for you. As long as you live under your parents roof, you have to abide by their rules....."Their house, their rules"....

17 is probably not the age of majority in your state, so you get no additional legal benefits.

The only benefit of you turning 17 would be to someone else, who can no longer be prosecuted under statutory rape laws.

I'll leave it to other people to give you the soap-box speech about making good choices and not rushing into things.

Just relax soon enough you will be grown and able to do what you want to at least when it comes to your boyfriend.........As long as you are under your mom roof she can be however strict she wants. So know need to stress ,relax and know your almost grown.(1 year)Then u can get your own place and chill with your boyfriend how ever much you want. And what is your boyfriend age ?Its hard for parents to promote anything they dont believe in.Its hard for ANYBODY!!

first anwer wins. sorry sweetie, but the age of consent for sex is unrelated to the age of majority

ask your mom if your boyfriend can come to your house and chill with you there - with her home of course, and maybe if she gets to know him she'll trust you both a little more

are you paying any bills in your parent's home? how old is this boy? did you ever think your parents might be saving you from some trouble that could lie ahead for you............boyfriends come and go, but your family is still your family................don't wish your life away Just chill and soon you'll be on your own, and you can make mistakes that your parents will still clean up..........

Until you come of age, get a (bleep)ing job, and move the (heck) out of your parents home, you are subjecting yourself to them. As long as you use their address, you are obligated to follow their rules, even if you are 35. Get in or get out- all the way out.

As long as you live under your parents' roof, you have to do what they say. Age of consent or no.

You are allowed to petition for emancipation. Oh, yes, and along with that, you are allowed to:

1. Pay your own rent
2. Pay your own utilities
3. Pay for your own food
4. Pay for your own healthcare
5. Pay for any post-secondary schooling
6. Pay for your own clothing
7. Well, I think you get my drift

You don't get the "advantages" without the RESPONSIBILITIES.
