I am trying to find out what the gums are supposed to look like while your child is teething. Do they stay hard the whole time or do they get soft, red , white and what they look like right before the come in. Can anyone help with this?

They might look a little swollen and red, and you will see tiny bits of white right before they are ready to come in, you might also feel a hard spot on the top of their gums, which is the teeth :). There are many teethers out there to stick in the freezer, tylenol for pain and fever, baby orajel does awesome, or stick a damp washcloth in the freezer and take it out and let baby suck on it (best teether ever!!)

well babies tend to drool ALOT when they are teething. They put their hands in their mouth to "ease" the anxiety they feel along with the itching that comes with teething. The gums are swollen and red. You can always stick your finger in your baby's mouth and massage the gums in a circular motion to see if you feel any points poking through or starting to form..

they usually get alittle swollen and puffy and you can see a bit of white right before they pop through and also the baby will run a light grade fever and be cranky
